Geometry Primitives

These primitive presets can be used with either primitive-creating functions (X3DObject.AddPrimitive method, GetPrim and SIGetPrim commands) or geometry-creating functions (X3DObject.AddGeometry method, CreatePrim and DrawPrimitiveTool).

Primitives

Cone

Cone s can be PolygonMeshes, NurbsSurfaceMeshes, PointCloudGeometry objects, or implicit objects (non-renderable shapes commonly used to define bounding volumes for envelopes, particles, etc.)

 

Cube

Cube s can be PolygonMeshes, NurbsSurfaceMeshes, PointCloudGeometry objects, or implicit objects (non-renderable shapes commonly used to define bounding volumes for envelopes, particles, etc.)

 

Cylinder

Cylinder s can be PolygonMeshes, NurbsSurfaceMeshes, PointCloudGeometry objects, or implicit objects (non-renderable shapes commonly used to define bounding volumes for envelopes, particles, etc.)

 

Disc

Disc s can be PolygonMeshes, NurbsSurfaceMeshes, PointCloudGeometry objects, or implicit objects (non-renderable shapes commonly used to define bounding volumes for envelopes, particles, etc.)

 

Dodecahedron

Dodecahedron s are PolygonMeshes.

 

Grid

Grid s can be PolygonMeshes, NurbsSurfaceMeshes, PointCloudGeometry objects, or implicit objects (non-renderable shapes commonly used to define bounding volumes for envelopes, particles, etc.)

 

Icosahedron

Icosahedron s are PolygonMeshes.

 

Null

Null s are objects that have no geometry, but do have a position in space. They are useful for organizing scenes into hierarchies and when used as control objects in a character rig.

 

Octahedron

Octahedron s are PolygonMeshes.

 

Rhombicosidodecahedron

Rhombicosidodecahedrons are PolygonMeshes.

 

SoccerBall

Soccer Balls are PolygonMeshes.

 

Sphere

Sphere s can be PolygonMeshes, NurbsSurfaceMeshes, PointCloudGeometry objects, or implicit objects (non-renderable shapes commonly used to define bounding volumes for envelopes, particles, etc.)

 

Tetrahedron

Tetrahedron s are PolygonMeshes.

 

Text

3D Text information is immediately converted to curves which can be optionally converted to planar or extruded PolygonMeshes. Strictly speaking, text is not a true type of geometric object in Softimage but can still be created using the geometry-creating X3DObject.AddGeometry method and the CreatePrim and DrawPrimitiveTool commands. Also see the CreateMeshText command.

 

Torus

Toruses can be PolygonMeshes, NurbsSurfaceMeshes, PointCloudGeometry objects, or implicit objects (non-renderable shapes commonly used to define bounding volumes for envelopes, particles, etc.)
