Tearing appears in displacement mapping result

Although the texture map applied to my polygon object is seamless in all directions, I still obtain a tearing effect once I use that very same texture as a displacement map for my polygon object. Why is that?

When using displacement maps with polygon geometry, make sure that the Discontinuity angle value in the Geometry Approximation tab is high enough. If a polygon mesh has a normal discontinuity (e.g. a value of 60.0), then the polygons will separate when displaced, since each polygon will be pushed in a separate direction.

Simply increase the Geometry Approximation > Polygon Mesh > Discontinuity angle to 100.0 (or higher), and the tearing effect will be corrected. 60 degrees was not enough in this case study, and a higher value of 100.0 was used to remedy the situation.
