Quick Setup Local License Server SLP
The scenario: You have received a confirmation e-mail stating that your licenses are ready for download. You want to install XSI and the license server on the same computer and automatically download your new licenses from the Web. You are assigning your licenses to the computer itself using SLP (SOFTIMAGE Licensing Protocol) -- you do not have a dongle. If this description fits your scenario, then you should proceed as follows:
- Download the XSI software package from the web at http://www.softimage.com/downloads/.
- Run the XSI setup program.
- Accept the EULA (End-User License Agreement). Click Next.
- Specify the destination folder where you want to install XSI. Click Next.
- Select XSI Essentials or XSI Advanced as the sofware package.
- Choose Typical Install for the setup type.
- Choose Local License Server to install and run XSI and the license server on the same computer.
- The Setup program detects that you do not currently have licenses installed on this computer.
- Choose Automatically download and install licenses from the web (this requires an active Internet connection). Click Next.
- Review your installation options: click Back to make any changes and Next to continue.
- The Setup program installs XSI and then installs the license server and the license manager.
- The license manager's login window opens: Enter your Softimage Web account username and password.
- Click Validate.
- Once validated, the license assignment window opens and displays your unassigned licenses.
- In the license assignment window, do the following:
- Make sure the Server Type is set to SLP. If it is not, click Change Type to switch from SI0 to SLP.
- From the list of available unassigned licenses, select the checkbox next to the licenses you want to download and assign to this computer.
- Click Assign.
- If all goes well your licenses are installed and the server started successfully.
- Click OK.
- Start up XSI.
