License Error 102

Message:

The license file you are trying to install does not correspond to this server.

The Server ID for this system is: 01C8EFGFA19B--SLP.
This license file was generated for Server ID: 012BE49FF19D--SLP.
As a result the database cannot be modified.

Please locate and install the license file for server 01C8EFGFA19B--SLP.

Symptoms:

This generally happens when you are trying to install a license key file that was generated for a different Server ID.

If you are using SLP this can happen if you have deactivated and reactivated licenses on your system multiple times, and are attempting to install a license key file manually.

With each reactivation of your licenses, a new key file is created and it's possible that you may have selected an outdated file to install.

Resolution:

The easiest solution is to use Get License and select Download and install licenses from the web. This option will automatically download and install the most recent and valid license key file for your server. To do this follow the instructions below:

  1. Start the license manager: choose Start > Programs > Softimage Products > License Manager.
  2. Click 'Get License'.
  3. Select 'Download and install licenses from the web'.

If you do not have access to the Web from your license server or you are on a Linux system:

  1. Find a system that can access the Internet and go to the Softiamge Customer Portal Get License (http://www.softimage.com/CustomerPortal/License/AssignLicenses.aspx)
  2. Select the appropriate Server ID of the licenses you wish to download
  3. Download the license file to disk and transfer the file locally to the computer where your license server is installed.
  4. Install the license keys on your server. See How do I install keys.
