Question

How to verify that your second CPU is being used.

Answer

  • After you have started a render, preview or render region. Open the windows task manager. In the Performance tab, you should be able to see both CPU working in the CPU Usage History graph.
  • Depending on the complexity of the render, you should also be able to see 2 tiles being rendered at the same time.
  • Concerning other operations done in XSI, you should also see both CPU working in the CPU Usage History graph. Do not expect to see both CPU levels equal as you saw while rendering. Operations done in XSI are not all multithread, therefore some operations might only show activity on one CPU.

Applies To: XSI 1.0,XSI 1.5,XSI 2.0,XSI 2.0.1,XSI 3.0,XSI 3.0.1,XSI 3.5,XSI 3.5.x on NT,Win2K
