How do I generate a request code
There are several ways to generate request code: all methods result in the same file being generated, however, additional parameters may be added when using the more advanced options.

Generating a request code on Windows:
To generate a request code using the "get license" wizard:
- Start the license manager: choose Start > Programs > Softimage Products > License Manager.
- Click Get License.
- Select Manually install licenses from an existing file or generate a license request code. Click Next.
- Select I do not have my license file and I would like to request one from Softimage. Click Request.
- The request code is generated and displayed in the window.
- Save the request code. You can select the text and then copy and paste it to a file, or click the Save button to automatically save the request code to a file on disk.
- Click Done.
- Submit your request code to the Customer Portal and download your license.
To generate a request code using the license administration tools (Advanced):
- Start the license manager: choose Start > Programs > Softimage Products > License Manager.
- If your server is currently running, click the Stop Server button.
- Click Manage License.
- Click Generate Request Code.
- The request code is generated.
- You can select the text and then copy and paste it to a file, or click the Save button to automatically save the request code to a file on disk.
- Click Done.
- Submit your request code to the Customer Portal and download your license.
To generate a request code using the command line (Advanced):
- Open a command prompt.
- If your license server is running, stop the service by typing NET STOP "SPM License Server"
- Run the command <%SystemDrive%>\spm\spm_keyib.exe -y -c request.req
- Restart your server if necessary NET START "SPM License Server"
- Your request code is now saved to disk as request.req.
- Submit your request code to the Customer Portal and download your license.

Generating a request code on Linux:
To generate a request code using Lictools:
- Run lictools from /usr/Softimage/Spm/bin/lictools.
- If your server is running you must stop it by clicking stop server.
- Click Generate Request.
- Save the request file to disk.
- Start your license server again by clicking start server.
- Submit your request code to the Customer Portal and download your license.
To generate a request code using the command line:
- If the license server service is running, stop it by running the following command: /etc/ini.d/spm stop
- Run /var/spm/spm_keyib -y -c <*.req>
- Restart your server /etc/ini.d/spm start
- Submit your request code to the Customer Portal and download your license.
