Assign License

This is the last dialog box of the Get License wizard. The license assignment window allows you to assign any unassigned licenses to the current Server ID. It also provides a history of all licenses associated to your account. You can access the license assignment window outside of the "get license" process by clicking Server > Assign Licenses in the License Manager.

License assignment table
The license assignment table lists all the licenses associated to your company. Each row in the table contains information about licenses for a particular product, its quantity and status.
- Qty: Specifies the quantity (total number) of licenses available to be installed. The quantity can be a single license or multiple licenses that can be thought of as a license bucket. These "buckets" of licenses are defined earlier in the buying process as specified by your purchase order or by the quantities added to your Shopping Cart during the Web Store purchase. The current implementation of the license manager does not allow these "buckets" of licenses to be split apart and assigned to different Server IDs.
- Product: The name of the Softimage product for which you have purchased licenses.
- Ver: The version number of the Softimage product for which you have purchased licenses.
- Duration: Specifies an end-date [month/day/year] for temporary licenses (such as trial, evaluation, and panic licenses). If the license has no end-date it is listed as Permanent.
- Status: Indicates whether the license is Assigned, Assigned PANIC, Unassigned, Unassigned from Deactivation, or Unassigned Pending Approval.
- Unassigned - A license that is available to be assigned and installed on the license server. Only unassigned licenses have a checkbox displayed next to their Qty entry in the license assignment table. Selecting the checkbox indicates that the licenses are ready to be Assigned to the current Server ID.
- Unassigned Pending Approval - A license that is not yet available to be assigned or installed on the license server. In most cases, these licenses are still waiting for a final purchase confirmation. Licenses pending approval are unselectable (no checkbox available).
- Unassigned from Deactivation of (Sever ID) - If your Server Type is SLP, you can "return" assigned licenses to their unassigned status through a process called deactivation. Deactivated licenses can then be reassigned to another Server ID if needed.
- Assigned to Computer Name (Server ID) - A license that is downloaded and installed on the license server. If you are using a dongle, the "Computer Name" will be listed as localhost (although sometimes it may be blank, but this is not a problem). Assigned licenses are unselectable (no checkbox available).
- Assigned to Computer Name (failed Server ID) PANIC - A license that is downloaded and installed on a license server that has failed and the Panic Button was used.
- Assigned to Backup Computer Name (Server ID) PANIC of (failed Server ID) - A license that is downloaded and installed on a backup license server due to the failure of another license server which required that the Panic Button be used. The license server and its licenses are active, but they are locked against any modifications (such as license deactivation) during the investigation by the Softimage Customer Support staff of the original license server failure.
- Hide expired entries: Hides any temporary licenses that have expired.

Changing your server type
Before assigning any licenses, check that your Server Type setting is correct. You can change the Server Type by clicking the Change Type button to toggle between SI0 and SLP.
- SLP: Licenses are assigned to the computer itself (no-dongle licensing) using the Softimage Licensing Protocol.
- SI0: Licenses are assigned to a special hardware key called a USB iButton dongle.
- COM: This server type is only displayed if you are using a legacy serial dongle connected in a COM port.
